This Privacy Policy explains how the Promises app (“the app”, “we”, “our”) handles your information. The short version: the app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
Information we collect
We do not collect, store on our servers, or transmit any personal or sensitive information. The app has no user accounts and never asks for your name, email, location, contacts, or any other personal details.
Information stored on your device
The app saves a small amount of data locally on your device only, in the app’s private storage. This never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:
- Favorite verses — the verses you mark with the heart, so you can find them again.
- Reminder preferences — whether the daily verse notification is on, and the time you chose for it.
This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
Permissions the app uses
- Notifications — used only to show the optional daily verse reminder. The reminder is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings or in your device settings.
- Run after restart (boot completed) — used only to re-schedule your daily reminder after your device restarts, so the reminder keeps working. No data is read or sent.
Sharing a verse
When you tap Share, the app uses your device’s standard Android share sheet and you choose where to send the verse text. We do not select the recipient, and we do not receive or store anything you share. Any app you share to is governed by that app’s own privacy policy.
Device backup
Android may include the app’s local preferences (your favorites and reminder time) in your own device’s backup if you have Android/Google backup enabled. That backup is controlled by you and by Google, under Google’s Privacy Policy, not by us.
Children’s privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Third parties
The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party services that would receive your data.
Scripture text
Bible passages in the app are from the World English Bible (WEB), which is in the public domain. This is provided for context and is unrelated to data collection.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
